Rosh Hashanah Evening Prayer (service)

The evening services of both nights of Rosh Hashanah are relatively brief ; in most synagogues they don’t last longer that half an hour. The service starts with barchu and goes on with shema and the blessing which precede and follow it. Then the special Rosh Hashanah Amidah is then recited, followed by the recitation  of pslam24 and the Aleinu.

Tashlich comes from the Hebrew word meaning “to cast “referring to the meaning “to cast” referring to the intent to cast away our sins via this meaningful and ancient Jewish custom common to both Ashkenazi and Sephardic communities.
Tashlich is usually performed on the first day of Rosh Hashanah . and if Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbat then tashlich is done on the second day of Rosh Hashanah ,special verses are recited next to a body of water such as sea, river, stream lake or pound preferably that it has fish in it. Upon concluding the verses, the corners of ones clothes are shaken out for males, this is usually done with the corners of the tallit katan.
